As Jason and Elizabeth lay in bed after their session of love making, the reality of their situation began to set in for the both of them.
“It’s so peaceful here; I’m not really used to that.” Jason finally responded breaking the silence.
“I’m glad you’re here tonight.” Elizabeth replied as she gazed into his steel blue eyes.
“I had nowhere else to go.” Jason softly stated.
“Emily would want us to be there for each other” Elizabeth stated sadly as she thought about her best friend.
Jason saw the sadness in her eyes and he knew he could no longer walk away from her or his family. Jason placed his finger under her chin, so Elizabeth's cobalt blue eyes were staring into his. Jason wanted nothing more than to make love to her again but he knew they needed to talk.
“Elizabeth, I know my life is dangerous and you want to keep the boys safe. I want to keep our boys safe as well.” Jason stated.
“Our boys, you think of Cameron your son too?” Elizabeth asked.
“I do, I have loved that little boy ever since you placed him in my arms on Christmas Eve at Kelly’s. Sometimes I wonder if I told you how I felt back then, that maybe Cameron would have been my child.” Jason replied like Elizabeth should have known his love for her son.
“Jason that’s sweet, but there is no point looking in the past. We can’t change anything that happened back then. We can only learn from the choices we have made in the past and move forward.” Liz stated confidently.
“I know I want to be a family with you, Cameron and Jake. I want to wake up with you in my arms every morning and fall asleep with you in my arms every night.” Jason said firmly.
Elizabeth couldn’t believe what she was hearing. The man she loved wanted to be a family with her and her boys. Not just Jake, Elizabeth hated comparing Lucky and Jason but she knew that was the main difference between them. Lucky only cared about Jake; he didn’t give a second thought to Cameron when he was recovering and during the custody negotiations.
“Jason, I ran into Lucky before I came home from the funeral.” Elizabeth said as she turned her head away from him.
Jason face turned stoic. Jason only reserved that face for his mortal enemies. Elizabeth glanced out of the corner of her eye to see his face running cold. Elizabeth had only seen this look on Jason a few times. Elizabeth knew Jason was seeing red and she was the only one who could calm him down.
“Jason!” Elizabeth raised her voice to snap him out of his thoughts.
“What did he want?” Jason said through his clinched teeth.
“He wants to continue as Jake’s father.” Elizabeth replied.
“Is that what you want?” Jason asked as his heart sunk.
Jason knew already how this was going to play out. He would go along with whatever Elizabeth decided for Jake. He couldn’t deny her anything, she held his heart and if he was honest with himself, she held it since she found him in the snow all those years ago.
“Jason, I told Lucky…" Elizabeth began to say but was cut off by Jason.
“You still believe that Lucky is the safest choice.” Jason slowly stated.
“When did you start cutting people off while they are talking? Now if you let me finish, I told Lucky that Jake was yours and that you would be his father from this point on.” Elizabeth finally was able to say.
Jason’s eyes lit up with joy, he couldn’t believe the woman lying in his arms had finally told Lucky where to stick it. Jason would never let Elizabeth know that every time she chose Lucky over him his heart broke. None of that mattered; Jason finally started to realize his family was in reach. That was until he thought of Lucky's reaction to Elizabeth news.
“How did Lucky take it? Did he hurt you? I’ll go kill him right now if he laid a hand on you.” Jason stood up already gathering his clothes.
“Jason, I won’t lie to you. Lucky became angry and started to grab me when Nikolas intervened.” Elizabeth said standing as well.
Jason made a mental note to call Max and Milo later because tonight would be the last night Lucky drew breath on this Earth. Jason wrapped his arms around Liz making sure she felt all the love his mind, body and soul could give.
Jason pulled back a little so he could stare into his Elizabeth’s eyes. Jason slowly started to descend on her lips when they heard a car horn blowing.
“That’s my Gram, the boys are here.” Elizabeth said.
“You want me to leave.” Jason said.
“No, I want you to stay.” Elizabeth said as she ran her fingers through his hair.
One Year Later
“Are you okay?” Liz asked while laughing at a soaking wet Jason.
“Yes I am and why are you laughing at me?” Jason asked puzzled.
“Oh, no reason I was just wondering if Cameron gave you the bath instead of him getting a bath.” Elizabeth replied.
“Actually it wasn’t Cameron, it was Jake. I guess he is already learning mischievous habits from his big brother.” Jason stated through his own chuckle.
“Well come here, lets get you dried off.” Elizabeth said while grinning.
“Why do I have the feeling that you have other plans?” Jason questioned walking towards her.
“I don’t know, come over here and find out.” Elizabeth replied while backing up towards the bed.
Jason crossed the room quickly and scooped Elizabeth up in his arms. Jason relished in the fact that he no longer had to hide his feelings for the only woman he truly ever loved.
The past year had been a whirlwind for Jason and Elizabeth. They came out as a couple, the true paternity of Jake was out and Jason had adopted Cameron. If that wasn’t enough Elizabeth and Jason were married in Italy on a cliff overlooking Tuscany.
“Elizabeth…, Elizabeth?” Jason said smiling at her.
“Huh. Oh I’m sorry. I was thinking about how much has changed since this time last year.” Elizabeth said now looking into her husband eyes.
“All I can say is we have one hell of a story to tell Cameron and Jake when they get older. Oh and don’t let me forget this little one on the way. Hey baby girl, daddy loves you too.” Jason quietly said to Elizabeth’s belly as he laid her down on the bed.
“What makes you think, we are having a girl?” Elizabeth asked.
“I had a dream that you were pregnant with a girl and we named her Emily Rose Morgan.” Jason said nonchalantly.
“I really like that name Emily for your sister and Rose because of your grandmother Lila’s Rose Garden. They both would love that. Wait a minute, since when did you start to dream?” Elizabeth asked.
“I started dreaming the night you showed up on my doorstep that hot August night. Elizabeth you took my heart and made it complete.” Jason said as he begun to kiss Elizabeth and make sweet love to her the rest of the night.
